Renting a House

Looking to rent a house with my wife and 3 sons this Summer. They'd like to be close to the nightlife. Any suggestions for areas to look for houses? Thanks.

vrbo.com is a good place to start. For only 4 people, you will find more condos, especially since you mention nightlife. Most of the houses are in North Myrtle Beach or south in Surfside Beach or Garden City. Most of them are very large, meant for multi-families.

The nicest area to rent a house would be between about 30th Ave. N & 79th Ave. N. Beachfront is going to be prohibitively expensive, even beach block will be high. MB has WAY more hotel/condo units than rental houses.

Renting a house close to nightlife might be a tall order in MB and probably not a good idea area-wise. You will need a car to check out the different nite-spots anyway.

For renting a house, you might also want to look into North Myrtle, Surfside, or Garden City (or even further north or south).

You will also have to decide if you want to deal with an agent or rent direct from an owner. There are pros and cons to both, plenty of threads here about that if you search the forum (using the box directly above your post).

Best wishes...

Myrtle Beach has some strict laws about house rentals in the area daddio is talking about. So finding a vacation rental in MB itself is harder to do. And you will absolutely pay a premium to stay in that area. You will find more houses south like Surfside/Garden City IMO than north in North Myrtle Beach. Before moving north beach we always rented on the south end and IMO I still prefer south.

I would go on VRBO and find a condo (in a hotel) Lots of big, 3 bedrooms on there...plenty of room for 5 to move around and most are just as nice as a house. Cheaper too.
