downtown restaurants and things to do

Hi!! We have a group of seven adults and two children who will be visiting Chattanooga this Saturday to see the aquarium. Can anyone recommend some downtown kid friendly restaurants? Also, are there any other must - do or must - see activities downtown? Thanks!!

Mellow Mushroom, Cheeseburger Cheeseburger are two kid friendly places within walking distance to the aquarium. Walk the riverfront, play in the fountains (kids), walk the bridge and grab an ice cream on the other side of the Tennessee River.

Welcome to East Tennessee.

The Tennessee Aquarium is just amazing. All ages will enjoy. There is a package that combines the aquarium with the IMax Theatre. I would check and see what is now playing.

There are the Chattanooga Ducks and the River George adventure. You can walk along the Tennessee Water Front and cross the Walnut Street Pedestrian Bridge to the North South of the river. There are many shops, Clumpy's Ice Cream, Daylight Donuts, Good Dog, River Street Deli and more. Maybe have a picnic in Coolidge Park, ride one of the 52 antique animals on the Carousel and visit the Bluff View Arts District.

You can use the free shuttle and visit the Chattanooga Choo Choo. If you have a car, visit Rock City atop Lookout Mountain.

Child-friendly dining would be Big River Brewery, Mellow Mushroom Pizza, Sugars Ribs and Bar B Que, Tony's Trattoria at Bluff View and Lupi's Pizza.

Have a great visit. Glad you are coming.

Within the TN Aquarium activites and attractions are also the IMAX 3D Cinema and the River Gorge Explorer cruise. A block away is at&t Park which hosts the Chattanooga Lookouts AA minor league baseball team. For child-friendly restaurants, there are several which have already been mentioned within walking distance. But I would suggest that you hop on the CARTA free electric shuttle and take a ride to either the Northshore for Good Dog or Taco Mamacito or the City Center for Community Pie or Champy's or the Southside for Urban Stack or Mom's Italian Pizzeria.
