First time tips

Arriving on 30th July for a week. Advice please:

Taxi or bus to resort, approximate cost of both.

Can you get around the island easy by bus?

Any recommendations for pubs/restaurants.

Can you hire sunloungers on the beach?

Any must see attractions?

Thank you in advance.

"Taxi or bus to resort, approximate cost of both."

you haven't said where on the island you are staying, or where you are arriving. Port? Airport?

Bus information is online

https://libertybus.je/

Things to see and do are listed here

Buses are easy to use especially if you’re staying near the main bus station

Have a look at the website

https://libertybus.je/

You can get bus 15 from the airport. Might depend exactly where your hotel is in the town.

The airport website has details of transfers by bus or taxi

https://www.jerseyairport.com/gettinghere/

Expect about £18 or so to St Helier depending which hotel

Buses are currently £2.70 (less if contactless)

https://www.libertybus.je/fares

If you’re going to use the buses further look at getting a card (discover pass)

I like Roseville Bistro but there are loads of good pubs cafes and restaurants.

Gorey pier area is nice to eat outside.

I don’t recall ever seeing sun loungers at the beach. Tidal range would be a issue I guess. We’ve just put a towel down.

There’s some seating for the cafe at Havre Des Pas lido or again use a towel

Hotels have them around the pool if they have one.

Let us know if you find any….

If you are using the bus a fair bit, get yourself and Avanchii pay as you go card. Trips are cheaper and you can pay for multiple traveller. Also, make sure to ask for a transfer ticket if you want to change buses - it is the same price.

If you fancy doing a guided walk, there is one of St Helier every Sunday morning. Good to get your orientation and very interesting too. Starts Liberation Square 10:30am. £10pp

Gorey Castle well worth a visit.

We just came back and paid £21 from airport to Merton and £23 back (St Helier traffic!).

Buses are great if you plan well as some are only twice/once an hour. The liberty bus app/website is great for journey planning and there is a live bus tracker too.

We did see sunloungers for hire at St Brelades, unsure about elsewhere.

Depends on what you like to go see but both castles and the zoo were amazing.

We can only advise on travel to and from the airport if we know where you're staying. This will also help us advise on pubs and restaurants.

Loungers can be hired in St. Brelades Bay, from either Sunnyside Deckchairs or Jono's Watersports. They average £5 per day, extra for windbreaks and parasols.

Must see attractions for me are the Zoo, the War Tunnels and Gorey Castle.

Be warned - if you are flying with Blue Islands airline there is a good chance your flight will be cancelled - total chaos at Jersey airport on July 15/when we were TRYING to return to Birmingham airport - ended up going to Bristol and taxi to Birmingham
