If your in town the Admiral does great food out of town the Old Portelet Inn is a favourite of ours.

Why not try one of the beach cafes such as Archirondel or Bonne Nuit both of these serve fantastic meals.

The Victoria in the Valley in St Peters is one to try. It's in a very pretty setting and has a nice outside terrace if the weather's good.

As this is in the St Helier forum try The Halket and Cock & Bottle both in Halket Place.

My fav out of town was Crabshack out at St Brelades for food and location.

I can recommend the St Mary's Inn - pleasant place with good food.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

After reading some of the forum I was starting to get worried that everywhere was ridiculously expensive and upmarket. Feel better knowing theres a varied choice.

Don't worry eMity - PLENTY of places to eat on a budget.

Some real low cost lunch options are to grab a pasty from pasty presto on liberation square, park yourself on a bench and watch the world go by.

Otherwise pick up some picnic snacks from one of the supermarkets and go to the beach or one of the parks :)

If you prefer to eat in then plenty of beach cafes, tea rooms and reasonably priced pubs to be found.

I found £8/£10 for a resonable but not flash meal.

If you are in the St Martin or Rozel area, pop into the Royal which is a good pub serving wholesome portions, most with a salad bar included in the price. On a nice day you can sit in the pretty garden to eat. Average cost £8/£10 for a main course which is all you will need.
