We booked through Welcome Cottages
We stayed here for a week at the beginning of May2014.
When we arrived the outside temperature was cold:the cottage, however, was very warm and remained so all week.
The warmest room in the house was the rear bedroom which we used for the rest of the holiday.
The cottage was very roomy for the two of us.
The Kitchen and all the facilities therein were excellent.Having a dishwasher, microwave and oven which work well, are useful, if you are cooking ready meals.
The TV worked well and the BT hotspot covered this area so we were able to use our computer.
The cottage location couldn't be better.
The road outside was extremely quiet and there was no noise from the back of the house.
Therefore we had a very peaceful relaxing week.
It is a minute away from the lovely harbour.
There are TWO convenience stores round the corner. Both sell any food provisions you will need at reasonable prices.
There are large supermarkets in Stranraer which is 7 miles from here.
As a keen birdwatcher and walker Portpatrick could not be in a better position.
We spent the week walking to Morroch Bay, Killantringham Lighthouse and Dunskey Glen along the cliffs:there was no need to use the car.
Birds recorded included 7 pairs of Stonechat,16 Whitethroat,Black Guillimot,Arctic Skua,Common Scoter,Gannet,Fulmar,Guillimot,Razorbill and Redthroated Diver.
Overall a great week.
We thoroughly recommend this cottage.
