Lunch stop outside of Memphis

We will be driving from St. Louis to Memphis and will need a place to stop for lunch - I'm guessing about an hour before we reach the city. My wife and her friend would prefer somewhere that serves salads - I'm more of a BBQ guy, but I'll get my fill in Memphis. We also need a recommendation for a restaurand (nice, not fancy) near the Orpheum for a pre-show dinner. Thanks

Your only populated area about an hour out of Memphis is going to be Blytheville, AR. There are numerous chain restaurants there and I'm sure some good local places as well. You might ask about the area on the AR forum. We normally stop in Sikeston at Lamberts, but that's further than an hour from Memphis.

As for nice places to eat, they are numerous downtown. My suggestions would be Flight, Felicia Suzannes, McEwans or Texas de Brazil. If you have specific preferences, we can recommend some other ideas.

Thanks for your info. Someone suggested the Majestic Grill - they said it was close to the Orpheum. Have you tried it?

Yes it's pretty good and it is close. The cluster at Monroe and Main mentioned above plus McEwens all have better service and food though. That intersection is walkable from the Orpheum and it is also accessable to the Main St. Trolley going right down to the theatre.

Stop in Osceola, AR which is an hour N of Memphis. Sandbar Grille is a few minutes off I 55 at Exit 48. It's a nice family run restaurant. Good luck.

We just got back from our short trip and I'll be sending in a trip review shortly. We wound up having lunch in Blytheville (spelling), Arkansaw and really enjoyed it. Thanks again to everyone. ps: Elvis lives!!!
