Memphis for a Memorial Weekend

We are coming to Memphis for Memorial weekend. We want to visit Graceland and the zoo. Two adults, no children. Can you tell us a nice and safe area to stay?

Thank you.

caps, I would stay right Downtown if you can get a room. It's the only area you can walk out and find great restaurants, Beale Street, museums, Baseball, Riverboats, Mud Island theme Park, the Peabody Duck March, etc. all within 3 to 4 blocks of your hotel. You can catch a free shuttle to Sun Studio and Graceland & back.

I should point out that The Levitt Shell Amphitheatre near the entrance to the zoo you will be visiting has free concerts by various known performers May31 through June 3. You might check to see if something interests you. You will need a blanket or something on which to sit since these are lawm concerts. This is the site of Elvis's first professional concert.

Sunset Symphony is Memorial Day weekend and is held downtown right on the riverfront. Staying downtown means you won't have to fight for parking. You can bring picnic suppers or there are food vendors inside the gates.
