Getting to the Bluebird Cafe

We are flying into Nashville for an extended weekend and have reservations for a show at the Bluebird Cafe. We'll be staying in the downtown area. Is it feasible to take a taxi to and from the Bluebird? And how much might it cost?

Thanks!

if there were zero traffic, (which there won't be) it would be about a 10- 15 minute drive to Green Hills from downtown. Green Hills has some of the worst traffic in the city. Hillsboro road from 3-6 pm equals nightmare!

To actually answer the question ...

Yes, if you won't have a car, taxi is the way to go. There is public transportation from downtown to Green Hills, but the buses don't run THAT frequently and if you're going to the late show, you might miss the last one back. How much will it cost? I don't know exactly, but my best guess is $25ish. There will probably be a taxi stand at your hotel, depending on where you are staying, but for the return trip you'll need to call the cab co for a pickup.

P.S. Some hotels have shuttles that will take you to common points of interest -- be sure to check if that's an option for you.

How about the Loveless Cafe? Is it also reachable by taxi? Thanks for the tip about the hotel shuttle. We'll ask!

Well, yes Loveless is reachable by taxi, but it is a good bit further out than Green Hills from downtown. Loveless is not far from the Davidson/Williamson county line and is southwest of Green Hills. Taxi would probably be your only option as you definitely can't get there by city bus.

The Loveless is good, don't get me wrong, but if you aren't going to have a car it's really not worth it to try to get out there. You can have a perfectly wonderful southern breakfast at Puckett's downtown, or Monell's on the weekend.
