stops between Atlanta and Nashville and Pigeon Forge

Where would be a good place (or places) to stop between Atlanta and Nashville? We have seen most of the sites in Chattanoga so we are looking for other suggestions for siteseeing along the route. We like waterfalls, caverns, cablecars, old towns or most things really.

Also, any reccomended stops between Nash ville and Pigeon Forge? Again, we have been to Jack Daniels and Lynchburg so looking for other suggestions if possible.

Thanks. We are really looking forward to our trip in 8 weeks time!

Things to do or see in southern middle Tennessee:

Granny Fishes House in Wartrace, TN is open Thur-Sat only. Great catfish, trout and hushpuppies. Thursday night is fried frog leg night and they have the best frog legs I've had other than the ones I've gigged and cooked myself. http://grannyfisheshouse.com/

Franklin, TN is a nice town to visit as well. http://downtownfranklintn.com

Sewanee:The University of the South has a beautiful campus on Monteagle Mtn with architecture normally only seen in Europe. http://www.sewanee.edu/

In Tracy City you can visit Dutch Maid Bakery, the oldest family owned bakery in the state for delicious baked goods and deli sandwiches. http://www.thedutchmaid.com/

Another bakery/deli worth a visit is the Swiss Pantry in Belvidere, TN http://www.swisspantry.net/

Just a bit west of Swiss Pantry you will find Falls Mill water powered Grist Mill and Bed and Breakfast. http://www.fallsmill.com/map.html

Tims Ford Lake is a beautiful jewel of southern middle TN with pristine shorelines and Tims Ford Lake State Park and golf course. http://www.tn.gov/environment/parks/TimsFord/

Tennessee has a large number of very nice state parks within the middle Tennessee area. Fall Creek Falls is very popular. tn.gov/environment/parks/FallCreekFalls/

Middle Tennessee has it's own European style castle featured in the Taylor Swift video Romeo and Juliet. The castle is only open for tours during weekends in May for the Tennessee Renaissance Festival but can be seen from I-840 just south of Nashville. http://www.tnrenfest.com/
