Vandebilt Area

We will be visiting in September for an event at the Centennial Sportsplex - The recommended hotel is the Hampton Inn at the University. Is this a somehat central location? Near the music scene? Is it OK to walk around? for a shortweekend, is renting a car necessary? Or can we cab to Opryland etc.

Most of the music scene is in the downtown area, this hotel is about 2-2.5 miles from that. I would check with the hotel, they should have a downtown shuttle service. This area is pretty much safe to walk around in, it's right off the Vanderbilt campus.

The Hampton Inn & Suites does offer local area transportation, so that should get you downtown, thus, the music scene. Not sure if that includes the airport. Probably would not include Opryland hotel, as that is a good 12 miles from where you will be.

Is a safe part of town, University area.

It is a relatively new hotel, standard Hampton Inn, good number of restaurants of all kind close by, you should be fine.

Welcome to Nashville.

There are a few rock type clubs in the area for the vandy students.

Check the nashville scene or nashville rage weekly newspapers for details.
