Where the heck is that road?

Years ago, my husband and I happened upon a beautiful drive in the Townsend area. It seems like we were traveling from one town to another... maybe Pigeon Forge to Townsend, or PF to Cade's Cove, or Townsend to who knows where, or something like that. Anyway, the scenery was pretty farmland with old barns with "see rock city" signs on them. It was really pretty. Can anyone tell me where that road is?

You're not wrong, but they're not either. If you look on say Google Maps, its both actually, though Highway 321 is definitely the predominant and much more readily recognized marker of the two, particularly being its a US Highway.

US Hwy 321 and TN State 73 are the same road through Wears Valley between Townsend and Pigeon Forge. At the Red Light in Townsend, the road that continues into the park is known as scenic 73 over to where it Tees into 71/441 at Sugarland Visitor Center. Ray you are correct that almost everyone refers to Wears Valley Road as 321. The Foothills Parkway is NPS property, and the stretch between Walland and Chilhowee lake is a beautiful drive but don't expect to see any 'Rock City' signs unless you can see one off in the far distance from any one of several pull offs.
