Assuming you have checked Piney Shores' web site (which really shows very little for the resort itself), your best bet for entertainment is probably going to be to head south into The Woodlands. The town of Conroe will have some decent eating establishments, but nothing that I'm aware of that is a "must". Most of the resorts are pretty much like Piney Shores--they're set up for people who want to do their own cooking or eating at the club.

The Woodlands has some decent entertainment, and perhaps one of our Destination Experts who is more familiar with that area can offer you some more specific suggestions.

Here's a web site regarding the non-resident fishing license: …state.tx.us/business/…

Good luck.

Portier--it appears we don't have a Destination Expert for either Conroe or for The Woodlands, so I'd suggest you go to the forum within Trip Advisor for each of those cities, click on the tab for "Restaurants", and see which ones appeal to you. Unfortunately, they're about 40 miles from where we live, so I have no personal knowledge of them, but I've eaten at the Houston branches of America's Restaurant and Fleming's Steakhouse, and both are excellent, although both are definitely upscale restaurants ($$$$).

You might also try a website such as yelp.com to get some recommendations. Good luck.

There are many good restaurants on Highway 105 which is the closest major road to Piney Shores. Vernon's BBQ or Vernon's Kuntry Katfish are both good choices if you're in the mood for those foods. El Bosque is a great Mexican restaurant and Wolfie's has your typical bar foods and is located on the lake. I hope that gets you started!

If you are looking to hang out on the lake, Sam's Boat and Fajita Jacks on the lake are fun as well as Wolfie's or Papa's on the Lake. Conroe has chain restaurants like Saltgrass, Chili's etc, but if you want something more unique, head south to The Woodlands. There is a Tommy Bahama's store and restaurant, Cheesecake Factory, Kirby's Steakhouse, Jasper's and many more. You can get a full list of dining options here: thewoodlandscvb.com/pages/…Default.aspx. Hope that helps. There is lots of fun things to do in The Woodlands for all ages as well.

In terms of the out of state license, contact Academy at (281) 298-4400 and they can probably answer that question.

Happy Travels
