Plano Area

Our daughter and family recently moved to Plano. We are visiting on the 19 through the 26th. Any suggestions for non-chain restaurants near by. We love Mexican, barbecue, good steaks. We will have our granddaughter who is 7 with us most of the time.

What about nice shopping for the girls. Something that isn't a typical mall with all the department stores. Maybe an area that has really nice boutiques, gift shops, etc.?

We also love to go out for breakfast and don't like the typical bacon and eggs. Husband loves bisquits and gravy and I like crepes, different types of pancakes and waffles, etc.

Thank you for any suggestions.

Cheryl

Look for Shops at Legacy for shopping and just about everything else - Mex at MiCocina and Taco Diner. Steaks at Bobs. Breakfast at Main St Bakery. Although, if there is a Pancake House in another location, you might enjoy that. Another place that is good in Plano is Whiskey Cake...something for everyone.

Plano has a surprisingly huge number of good restaurants. It's a large city, so knowing where in Plano you will be would be helpful.

For BBQ, a new place just opened up in neighboring Frisco that is quite good. http://m.mainstreethub.com/3stacksbbq

For breakfast, Main Street Bakery at the Shops at Legacy has good Crepes and other breakfast fare. Breadwinners Cafe on Preston has a large and varied breakfast menu (though I don't think they have crepes). Both serve breakfast every day of the week.

For good steaks, I normally stay away from chain restaurants, but I have to say Capital Grill is excellent. Bob's Steak and Chophouse has steaks that I think are a little bit better than Capital, but I find their sides and apps very uninspired.

I agree that the Shops at Legacy sounds exactly like what you're looking for. Plenty of restaurants and boutique shops to stroll around. And not far from there in Frisco is a Sam Moon (closed on Sundays) sure to please the girls. http://www.sammoon.com/# Plenty of other shopping in that immediate area as well, including the Stonebriar Centre mall which is very nice. http://www.shopstonebriar.com/ Also close by is the Shops at Willow Bend. http://www.shopwillowbend.com/

Mexican (or Tex-Mex) restaurants in the area include Mi Cocina, Gloria's Restaurant, Luna de Noche, and La Hacienda (steaks and Tex-Mex). laharanch.com/lahaciendaranch/menu_la_ha.htm Oh, and a Blue Mesa Grill. http://www.bluemesagrill.com/

You will have many choices of restaurants and shopping.

Agree that Shops at Legacy is nice. There are small boutique type shops as well as several good restaurants. Suggestion for a nice restaurant would be Jaspers, Season's 52, or Capital Grille and for good BBQ you could try Kenny's Smokehouse (all at Shops at Legacy).

If you want to venture further north, take 75 to Allen. There is a huge outlet mall with stores for everyone.

Hope you have a great time in TX!

For an after-shopping treat, stop in at Big Easy (Plano) for a outrageously rich and delicious choco-peanut butter pie.
