Hotel Suggestions- Late August

2 forty somethings, visiting Dallas and Fort Worth area with a car, over 27th-31st Aug, are currently planning on spending 1st 3 nights in Dallas and 4th night in FW. We're looking for hotel suggestions.

Sights of interest are in Dallas Area: Dallas County Historical Plaza (JFK),The Sixth Floor Museum / Texas School Book Depository,Bank of America Tower, Reunion Tower, Six Flag over Texas, Southfork Ranch, George Bush Presidential Library, Cavanagh Flight Museum & Mary Kay Museum

Then FW: Stockyard National Historical District, Sundance Square, Water Gardens, Downtown - Flatiron Building - Fire Station No 1

We're hoping for spent around $100-$150 a night, preferably with parking costs included/free.

Where do you recommend staying? What hotels should we look at?

There are tons of options within your requirements. Most of the downtown hotels will be more expensive, but you can try the Lawrence, the Magnolia, the Adolphus (parking is $24 a night), and the Fairmont for web specials. Sometimes they have great deals--sometimes not a $ off.

The Belmont is an interesting place to stay. I just checked their rates for your time period and you can get a nice room for $109 or $129, and there are no parking charges. This retro property is just over the bridge from downtown and it's easy to get anywhere from this location. They have a small pool where you can have cocktails and see a beautiful view of downtown. There is a top-notch upscale barbecue restaurant the next property over --Smoke.

Also, just a few miles from the Belmont is the Bishop Arts District with great restaurants and interesting shops.

When we go to Fort Worth we've stayed at the Courtyard on University, but I just checked that location and downtown and the rate is $174/179. Downtown has parking charges, the other location does not. There is an interesting hotel in the Stockyards. Stockyards Hotel is pricing at $224 for one night on 8/30. Most of the downtown proximity hotels are going to be on the pricey end of the spectrum. With a car you can stay farther out for much less. Many of the Arlington hotels are priced in the $120-150 range, no parking fees, and will be about 15 miles straight-easy shot into downtown.

In Fort Worth, look at TownePlace Suites Downtown. It is a Marriott property. Free parking and breakfast. Nice pool.
