Dallas Hotel

Hi

We are looking for a hotel in an area where we can walk to shops/restaurants and use public transport to get around and see the sights. Could anyone suggest areas and 3/4* hotels that would be suitable. We are in Dallas for three days mid June and would appreciate any suggestions on must see/do whilst there

Thanks

Check the Fairmont, Hotel Palomar, Hyatt Regency. Sheraton would also be a possibility.

Both the Fairmont and the Hyatt Regency are downtown. Also downtown, take a look at the Joule hotel and the Adolphus. Hotel Palomar is in the Mockingbird Station area. There are some shops/restaurants in the area. Another good area to look at is Uptown. Lots of dining options and nightlife within walking distance. No idea what your budget is, but some nice hotels in the Uptown area are the Ritz-Carlton, Hotel ZaZa, and the Rosewood Crescent Hotel. The Downtown/Uptown areas might be closer to some of the sights, but Mockingbird Station is right on the DART line, so it should be pretty easy to get places (though, please note, if you have not been to Dallas before, our public transportation is not all that extensive -- the DART trains are really only helpful if you happen to be staying near a stop and the place you want to go is near a stop -- otherwise you might have to combine DART with a taxi).

Hotel Palomar - Hwy 75 (Central Expressway) @ Mockingbird. The other three are downtown.

Must see/do - see poodle's pointers @ tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g55711-i141-k72780…

If visiting over a Fri/Sat evening, think about renting a car for the day and drive to the Fort Worth Stockyards for the weekend evening rodeo and other entertainment. tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g55857-d10…

(The Trinity Rail Express (TRE) runs from downtown Dallas to Downtown FW, but there is no Sunday service and no service after 10pm any evening.)
