We arrived into DFW on Friday 30th from Melbourne
Collected our hire car at Alamo ( booked via travel jigsaw) it was a breeze no up selling in fact they told us we had everything we needed ! Nice change
Found our way to Towne place suites pretty easy straight run on the 121 and took 30 mins or so . Checked into our suite very happy the staff are so friendly and helpful the room is nice and spacious and everything parking wifi and breakfast is included .
Friends from fort worth picked us up and we headed into sundance square for dinner and drinks . Went to Texas De Brazil and it was awesome . The food was the best we have had in the us to date . The Restuarant is lovely the staff and friendly and gracious and the mojhitos wher going down well !! Well after spending three hours hear we headed off for some more action to walk off our food !!
Walked around sundance square checked our bass hall and some other places went into a few different bars to pay our Australian patronage but ended up at the flying saucerer ( is that the name ?) a very happening bar!! Can't remember the time we left hear but we walked out saw a very pretty carriage ride decked out as the Cinderella pumpkin carriage all lit up so took a spin then our friends dropped us home but we where like pumpkins can't remember the time !! Except to note that Big Ray at our hotel front desk was very jealous of our evening !! Lol
Saturday jet lag and lots of eating and drinking caught up with us a little so we slept late skipped breakfast ( but didn't care ) and started over again at 1pm when we where picked up again by our friends to start all over again this time a great lunch on the way to the stockyards at one of there favorite family restaurants called Los Vaqueros . Again food service and alcohol where all excellent , getting around with locals eases the pain of where to eat, they know the places !! I had the stuffed avocado chicken salad which was awesome my other half had the house hot steak which he loved .
From hear we headed to the historical stockyards and this is where the day turned into night and turned into morning very quickly !!
We got around in the beautiful sunshine checking out the shops and doing what you do , stopping for beers along the way marveling at how cool this place really is . Got out of the sun around six and sat at the LOve Shack under the fans enjoying about 4 or 5 or who is seriously counting beers !!
By then We hit BIlly BObs and seriously cannot believe how big this place is !!but we have learned everything is bigger in Texas!!
We where hungry so ate at the grill restaurant we ordered burgers and they where pretty good
We then moved around checking it all out different bars the rodeo and listening to some of the live music .
We stayed at Billy BObs till around 11.30 then went to a bar a few blocks which I don't know the name of but our friends brother was playing and he place was rocking !! We stayed till close around 2am and then our friends escorted our tired bodies home to rest, we came in the hotel lobby like naughty little teenagers giggle and holding our shoes !!
Had to get up pretty earlier since we went to bed around 3am , it was just after 8am to shower breakfast and hit the road . Hubbie reminded we had some business to do it wasn't all fun !! We went to Waxahachie but that's another story it didn't work out so we got back downtown fort worth around 2pm . Just resting up in room now thinking off heading out in a few hours for an early dinner to either sundance square or back to Los vaqueros .
Fort worth is amazing its truly a beautiful town we have loved it so far and we felt like we have been shown it the best way by locals . How lucky are we?
Tomorrow we are driving into Dallas for the day to explore do the sixth floor museum might do a Segway tour if you have any suggestions let me know !!
Hope you've enjoyed my report as much as we enjoyed partaking in it !!
