Staycation to Forth Worth

I moved to Texas 9years ago from New Orleans but there is still alot I havent seen. I have never been to Forth Worth,Texas. I have very ,ittle money but I wanted to take a vacation but can't afford to go out of town. So I'm going to take my daughter and niece to Forthworth for the weekend and stay in a hotel.(STAYCATION..lol) What is there to do in Forth Worth. Ages 39,15 & 19. My daughter has been dying to see a drive movie and I heard Forth worth has one. Please give me some suggestions on what we can do 4th July weekend.

Thanks all!!!

It's about time you get to FW. You're in for a pleasant surprise. A few things: Coyote Drive-in, Stock Yards Willie Nelson picnic/music festival, Stock Yards rodeo & Longhorn cattle drive, downtown Water Gardens & Sundance Square, several first rate museums. There's more.

National cowgirl hall of fame, Modern Art museum, Kimball art museum. Amon Carter western art museum-used to be free but took donations. Magnolia st has several restaurants and has a pop up market on saturdays across from yummy benitos restaurant. Ft Worth cats games r fun n affordable.

Due to Willie Nelson's celebrations in the Stockyards - hotels may be limited or at a premium. Even if you have to put your weekend off to another, there is still plenty to do as noted by texhills above.

Celebrate the 4th (Friday) at Panther Island (fireworks, water events, etc) - Be sure to see the calendar as there are weekly events throughout summer (for another time). pantherislandpavilion.com/events/fort-worths…

Anytime of summer, you can have a more leisurely picnic (stock up at nearby Central Market) at the beautiful, nearby Trinity Park, even ride the fun for all ages Forest Park Miniature Railroad. http://www.fpmt.us/

Check the two different Segway Tours companies - each one offers three (I believe) different tours at a relatively reasonable $$. http://www.segwayfortworth.com/

Fri/Sat night rodeo at the Stockyards. Don't neglect having a burger at the Love Shack on Exchange Ave.

Hang out at downtown's Sundance Square. Cool off with drinks (soft of course) on the overlooking patio at Bird Cafe. http://www.sundancesquare.com/events

A little less "event"ful and only open M-F - the Money Factory, only one of two engraving facilities which produce our U.S. paper money. No, they don't give souvenirs! ;) moneyfactory.gov/tours/fortworthtxtours.html
