Christmas Dinner

My husband and I will be in Houston during Christmas. Our hotel offers breakfast, but what restaurants will be open Christmas Day?

Thanks so much for your assistance!!!! Any other suggestions about Christmas type things to see and do will also be appreciated. We will be there Christmas Eve through Tuesday. Again, thanks for your help and suggestions.

The Galleria and River Oaks areas will be lit with Christmas decorations and lights. It will also be very crowded.

Which hotel/area are you staying in? That'll help us find restaurants for you.

Welcome to Houston!

Check out McCormick and Schmick's Seafood Restaurant in the Galleria. A bit pricey but excellent food. They usually have a great spread on Christmas Eve and a brunch on Christmas Day.

I'm not sure about where to eat on Christmas Day but for sure go into the Galleria to see the tree. It's fun and the tree is massive. It's located in the main area on the ice skating rink. There are lots of Christmas plays around town to check out too.

Highland Village is also pretty at Christmastime.

If you're interested, the Nutcracker will be playing downtown - that's a nice Christmas tradition, and they do a great job. If you plan on going down to Galveston at all, Moody Gardens does a great Festival of Lights with over 1,000,000 lights - really elaborate. The Alley also usually does A Christmas Carol if you like something traditional and Santaland Diaries if you want something a little more irreverent and funny. If you want something non-Christmasy just for entertainment, there's a great King Tut exhibit at the MFAH right now.

Hi,

this link will take you to a website that is good for finding local retsaurants, by many different types of criteria. This page is especially some of the restaurants open Christmas Day:

'17' at The Alden gets great reviews!

For a good NYE pre-fixe, you might try Sambuca, in downtown Houston.

happy holidays!
