Over night layover What to do?

We may book a flight for Feb 16 2013, that has a layover form 5:00pm

Saturday night tell Sunday at 7:30 am. What's fun to do on a Saturday night. We would like to have dinner and see a live band. We have a drummer and a bass player going on our trip. We would also like to know of a good hotel to stay at. Also ideas on how to get around.

Houston is a large, spread out city. If you're flying into Bush IAH it's at least a 40 minute drive into downtown. There a lots of options. What type of music? Will you want to rent a car?

If you could indicate how much you want to spend for the hotel that would also help people give you specific advice.

The best way to get around would be to rent a car. As the flight is early in the morning it would be better to stay close to the airport. Plenty of hotels / motels of the full range close to the airport.

On a Sat night there will be several bands playing at different locatiions within the greater downtown area. As stated above will be about 40 mts from the Bush airport. Weather in Feb could be below freezing or pretty warm.

Venues a bit closer to IAH would include the the C. W. Mitchell Pavilion and Dosey Doe's in The Woodlands

South of The Woodlands, in Spring has Big Texas (country music) http://www.bigtexassaloon.com/

For hotels in The Woodlands, the Marriott Waterway is adjacent to the Pavilion, but there is also the Avia (boutique hotel), Hilton Garden Inn, Residence Inn, Drury Inn & Suites and Courtyard by Marriott.

To stay in Spring, I suggest the Comfort Suites on Louetta Rd East, near I-45N

Welcome to Houston!
