Either airport would work for you. I guess since you are already planning to be on the southeast side of town for NASA, I would say go for Hobby. I would assume you'd take Southwest again on to San Diego?
Welcome to Houston!!
Thanks for that knr, can't wait !! our main aim is just the space centre. Although my husband and son would love to go to a shooting range, I'm sure there would be one in Houston?? On our last trip to USA we went to one in Vegas but we aren't going to Vegas and our main destination is NYC on this trip.
I just looked at flights for Houston to San Diego and there is a $500 difference, Southwest was a lot cheaper!!
Plus as we will be hiring a car it would be best to pick up and drop off in one location.
So my new question is is Hobbity that 'bad' to fly into and out of?
Thanks for the help
I fly to or through Hobby weekly. It is one of the easiest small airports around the country. I love the airport.
Hobby is much easier to fly into and out of, with far less air traffic. It's also closer to downtown Houston, as well as The Galleria, our two primary areas for hotels, and as previously stated, far closer to NASA Space Center.
The only negative to Hobby is that the hotels in the immediate area of the hotel are not as nice, nor is the neighborhood, but if you're not staying there, that should present no problem.
Thank you so much for the info. I last flight I booked I didn't ask Trip Advisor and booked into Newark. Next day I read on the forum not to fly into there due to traffic issues. So now I'm nervous about booking flights.
Off to book :)
Yes, there are shooting ranges in Houston, and there is at least one open to foreigners. This same subject came up about 2-3 weeks ago. Let us know where you book your hotel, and we'll see if we can help you find the nearest shooting range. Also let us know if there are any particular type(s) of firearms your husband and son want to fire, as availability will vary from range to range.
Thanks for that Gene T :)
We'll get a hire car so can drive anywhere.
Not sure about firearms lol I think anything is good ! You can't shoot firearms in Australia and especially the ones that you can in America!
