chalet gemeaux plagne 1800

Hi, i wondered whether anyone has experiance of chalet gemeaux in plagne 1800 as our group has booked the whole chalet at the end of jan 2008. is it easy to ski back to the chalet under normal snow conditions? does anyone know of a good resturant for us to try on the chalet staff night off that serves good local food?

Did you stay at Chalet Gemeaux and would you recommend us to book for 2009. Can you give details of food, accommodation and how far from ski school. I would appreciate your earliest responce.

I am in Chalet Gemeaux as I write this and I must say that I can't really complain about anything as I booked my holiday only 3 days ago and it cost £399 per person for 7 days including (6am) flights at Late Ski Deals. However, I must say that I was disappointed with the chalet on arrival - the rooms are miniscule and very basic (mine is room 4 which is advertised as a big twin with balcony. The place has the feel of a hostel rather than a chalet (there are no keys to the rooms). All the staff and guests are Brits. The chalet staff are very pleasant and so far, the food has been acceptable but nothing to write home about. Perhaps I'm out of touch - I've not been skiing for 10 years - but this place had 4 stars (or snowflakes) on the website and I was expecting a bit more. Despite these comments, I'm having a great time. The chalet is a stone's throw from the piste and both the snow and the weather are fantastic. I've not been there yet, but our instructor's recommendation for dinner was Le Chaperon Rouge - about 100m away next to the chairlift. The rep also has a few recommendations and will book for you if required.

Hi there, I was there in early March. It's big and the dining room is L shaped so you can't mix with everyone easily. The skiing back is pretty good - not to the door unless you've fresh snow on the road! It's also easier to take the bus to Plagne Centre or Bellecote to get to the main areas for skiing and Les Arcs - taking the lifts across takes a long time. I dont' think that sticking a sauna in the basement makes it 3 star (the trek through the boot room in your towel - not too salubrious) and the conversion to chalet is a bit rough round the edges. Also, if you booked with Skiworld check your booking as we didn't get the room we had arranged and they are being very unco-operative. Nearest restaurant is the Loup Blanc - great food, rotten attitude. That said the skiing was great.
