Camping Baia Saracena

We are hoping to travel to Sardinia in July, two adults and two children, 8 & 11. We are looking for a fairly quiet campsite on a beach and within walking/cycling distance from a town. From research we've hit upon camping Baia Saracena but cannot find any good information on the campsite and can't view the rentable accommodation on their website. We've e-mailed but haven't heard back, perhaps it's too early in the year? We would appreciate if anyone has any information, good or bad on this particular campsite and indeed on the area itself. Have we chosen wisely or would we be better off in a different region. We're prepared to hire a car from Alghero airport but would be delighted if that wasn't necessary (more money for ice cream!). Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not sure if you have already been on your Sardinia trip yet? If so, how was your stay? I'm also considering this campsite for a trip early next year.

I know Olbia airport is closest to this area and taxis are VERY expensive.

Yes we spent the first two weeks there and you are in for a treat! What a stunning place! We really only saw the north of the island but each destination was more beautiful than the last. It was very hard to leave! We rented a car for the two weeks and only paid €321.00 so it was well worth it. We didn't choose Baia Saracena and were glad we hadn't. The location is good in that it's an easy walk into Palau (a fantastic town and well worth a visit) but it's not a very attractive campsite. We stayed at Camping Capo D'Orso which is a very large site and caters almost exclusively for the Italian market. Our children felt quite excluded as a result. It was a well run, place and difficult to fault but we wouldn't return to it.

One place we discovered though was Cannigione which is a charming town with lovely beaches, shops, cafes etc. There are two campites there, Isuledda ( www.isuledda.it) is one of them and one that we would definitely check out if we were going back.

I plan to write a review of Palau and the campsite but in the meantime feel free to ask me any questions.

We stayed at Isuledda campsite this May it was a great campsite and we would definitely return and are also going to reccommend it to our friends/families. The facilities at Isuledda are great and the beaches that it sits on are lovely....they also have a bike & boat trip/hire onsite plus a lovely restaurant on the road leading into the camp called

However it is worth noting that in May it is out of season and many of the facilities weren't available eg: piano bar closed, no children's entertainment, revised opening hours of beach bar/restaurant.

We walked into Cannigione regularly (appx 20 mins if you are a good walker) most of it was closed, again due to being out of season, but we can see how it would be a great area a little later on in the year.

In Cannigione there is a lovely restaurant on the harbour called 'Fuori Bordo' we initially stopped for a quick drink during our bike ride to the winery, but we ended up staying a couple of hours chatting with the staff, trying different dishes and it was lovely.
