Arriving April 1st for 9 days.

As the title says, we're arriving 1st April for 9 days. I'm stupidly excited! We were originally going to Nerja but decided to try Benalmadena to cut costs with car hire etc.

Just after some info. I'm visiting with my boyfriend, mum and younger brother who is 12.

What clothing should we pack? Will it be warm enough to sunbathe?

Also, hows the nightlife in April? Are late bars etc open? Drinks prices?

And any info on local markets would be welcome.

Hi Kelly

Clothing I would pack thinking "layers" - it's does start to warm up but you can't predict anything and if it's windy and you're out of the sun it could be a bit nippy - however in the sun quite warm...

Bars etc will be open and til late depending on the need of course, but the season doesn't kick in really until Easter time and beyond so it might not be that busy.

Lots of things to do though in the daytime and plenty of options in the evening.

For Markets, here is a previous thread which you should find useful: tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g562812-i10092-k…

Drinks prices are much cheaper than the UK, especially if you're on spirits and mixers, but you can get pints cheap too.

To eat and drink can be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be, it depends where you go.

You won't want for things to do or places to for sure.

You have 4 areas.... Benalmadena Costa/Bonanza Area - this is the main touristy area frequented by Brits/Irish etc... you have The Marina which is a bit more upmarket and caters to just about everyone, you have Arroyo De La Miel which is more Spanish and has some nice tapas bars and some good shopping and pedestrianised streets and then you have Benalmadena Pueblo which is up the hill and although not much to do there are some great places to eat there and some fantastic views.

I'm sure you'll have a great time.

With Benalmadena being a popular resort, many of these questions will have been asked many times before so it's worth having a mooch around the forum, click the "things to do" tab for activities etc and use the forum search bar as well - you can glean so much information from this forum.

Also, when you get there you will find a large Tourist Information Centre on the main road by the 24 hour square (Plaza Solymar) - whatever you need, leaflets, discount tickets, local knowledge etc you can get it all there!

2. Re: Arriving April 1st for 9 days.

Were out the same time just down the road in Torremolinos.

Depends what you want for night live, if entertainment around Bonanza square will give you most of what you need.

The marina and 24hr square are the places known for late night drinking more on a week end at this time of year.

For markets, Tuesday Fuengirola, Thursday Torremolinos and friday Arroyo. There is a small market above paloma park on a wednesday as well.

On a night time we frequent the tapas bars of Arroyo and Torremolinos, where not only is it cheap your not likely to get thrown out in the early morning. At midnight we usually go to the beach bars of the carihuela or Loa Alamos areas where the action into the early hours takes place, music, food, drinking etc.

In Benalmadena this time last year a cup of tea was 1 euro or less, coffee and brandy 1.50, small beer 1.25/50, tapas and wine 1.50/2.00. usually the time of food promotions, last year most we paid for a portion of food was 5 euros as everywhere reduced the price to this price point.

By October prices had reduced marginally again and friends who are out at the moment and spend every alternative month out, say this march, prices down on last year, we will see in 10 days.

Certainly all the surveys saying Spain suffering from deflation, not the 2% inflation we have in u.k.
