Hiya Kit82 the mediterraneo is one of the Best Hotel groups. You are near to the main town. loads of hotels shops etc havent been since 2006 cant comment on current prices. stayed in the San Diego and husband loved it. and know that business transferred to the mediterraneo at end of October, close of season. Theme Park still busy and shops still open. not as busy obviously as peak season Costa Caribe closes on 14th September. There is a nightclub on the corner of the street where mediterraneo is you will find it easily.Inflation has an affect on all countries. I am off on Friday to Marmaris to meet extended family and am taking £600 sterling. about 1200 Lira at todays rate, which is £200stg more this year than in August 2006.for one week,Bearing in mind that it is soooo much cheaper when not in euroland.

There is a Mediterraneo Hotel and there are Mediterraneo apartments - they aren't close to each other and aren't owned by the same group. The apartments are in a more residential area and are apparently very nice.

There are restaurants to suit all pockets and a lot of the bars do offers to tempt you in. There are happy hours etc on drinks too.

Just to say that most apartments want a breakage deposit when you check in, so try to find out if you need money for this. You'll get it back when you check out. This can be anything from €70 upwards.

If your spending money has to cover airport transfers and buses/taxis in the resort as you might need them in the night make sure you budget for this along with any days out you might want to do.

Me again! I've just copied this post for you about the apartments and the area -

Just back after spending last week in Salou. We booked these apartments independently as we needed two bedrooms. (3 adults). First of all there is an Hotel Mediterrano which is at the other end of Salou and from what we could see not contacted to the Salou Mediterrani / Mediterraneo apartments. The address of the Salou Mediterraneo apartments is

C/ JAUME VICENS VIVES, 9, TARRAGONA, SALOU, 43840

We arrived at 2.30am due to delays which is another story. We had arranged to travel to Salou from Barcelona airport with Resort Hopper. The bus driver was inexperienced and on reaching Salou he couldn't find his way to the apartments. Originally he was leaving us of at the hotel Salou Mediterraneo until we showed him the address of of the apartments. (The hotel would have been a good bit away from our apartments.) As the driver couldn't find his way to apartments he got us a taxi at our request and we were then driven to the apartments. The apartments are in what I would call a residential area and not the main tourist area. The main gate was closed. The taxi man used the intercom to get us in and this was answered almost immediately. We were able to open the gate ourselves to get into the garden and proceeded to the main door. The receptionist opened up to let us in. He was very nice and welcoming. He gave us the keys of the apartments - we were on the first floor. There is a lift so getting luggage up to the apartment isn't a problem.

The apartment is very clean, modern and in very good condition. The internet pictures are accurate. As described it is a 2 bedroom air conditioned apartment. There is a good size bedroom with a very comfortable double bed, a built in wardrobe and 2 good size bedside lockers. The 2nd bedroom is small with 2 very comfortable twin beds and also has a built in wardrobe and 2 bedside lockers. The sheets were not changed in the week we were there.

There are 2 bathrooms. The main bathroom has a toilet, bidet and shower with plenty of hot water. 2nd bathroom is smaller and has a toilet and again another shower. There were 3 large towels in the bathroom along with 2 smaller towels which were not changed in the week we were there.

The kitchen is in excellent condition and very clean - Modern full size fridge/freezer, modern electric cooker, washing machine and a microwave. Sufficient cups and plates. The kettle is not electric - just an ordinary kettle which you heat on top of the cooker. However it boiled quickly so we didn't find it a problem. There are no tea towels, dish cloths or sponges.

Living room is large and has a table and 6 chairs and a comfortable sofa bed to sit on - we didn't need to use it as a bed so I don't know what it is like to sleep on. There is also a t.v. and coffee table. Even with this furniture there was still plenty of room.

A patio door leads from the living room out to the balcony and a door leads from the kitchen to the balcony. The balcony is quite big with your normal outdoor table but only 2 chairs.

It is a small apartment block - perhaps about 18 apartments? There is a small swimming pool with plenty of sun chairs but only about 2 umbrellas that we could see. As we preferred the beach this didn't matter to us. We did notice as we walked around that most hotels/apartments only have small swimming pools.

Children - There is a small swimming pool and a pool table. As it’s only a small apartment block there wasn’t many children so perhaps not the same opportunity for them to make friends. There's no organised entertainment night or day.

Adults - No bar, coffee area or restaurant on the premises. The lobby area is small with a desk and a drinks machine. There isn’t an area in which you can sit to talk to others apart from the pool area. The supervisor is easily contacted at any time.

The Edifici Salou Mediterrani (number 9) - sign on gate at front, apartments are in a residential area of Salou. It’s in a great location. Turn left and 5 minutes walk takes you to beach and buses. (The bus can be got at the promenade) The buses are “Plana” buses. The beach is a really nice safe beach and not too crowded unlike the beaches at the tourist end of town. The walk is fairly flat down to the beach. A railway line cuts the town in half. But these apartments are ideally placed to get across the line. There are a few nice restaurants in the area along by the beach. 3 course meals were 12.90 euros. There are two small supermarkets about 3 minutes walk away from the apartments.

Turn right from the apartments and about 5 minutes walk takes you to the old town and a 15 minutes walk will take you to the new town.

One night we took the bus to Cambrils cost £1.35 euros each and £1.65 euros each coming back as it was after 10.00pm. It is a lovely town to walk around with a nice beach also. If there are 4 of you a taxi may be as cheap but we used the buses.

These are very good, clean apartments in a quiet area, very convenient to the beach and main tourist areas, buses and close to some nice restaurants. The apartment deserves it's 4 star rating but for us it would have been nice to have had somewhere to sit down at night instead of having to go straight up to the apartments when we came back at night.

Hope this helps answer your question
