Hi, we are staying in Salou and would like to go to Barcelona by train. Any ideas on cost/station(s) etc please.
Salou station to Sants in Barcelona. Costs vary depending on whether you choose the fast train or the slow one but are much cheaper than UK. Slow train takes nearly two hours but hugs the coast with great views. No buffet car though so take some refreshments.
Thank you, is this station in the centre of Barcelona, or do we have a walk or more transport required?
There is 3 stations in Barcelona so it depends what you are going to see in Barcelona. If you are just going to Las Ramblas then Passeig De Gracia or Franca is within walking distance. If you are going to see any of the other attractons around Barcalona then the metro is cheap and easy to use or they have the hop on and off buses but they work out expensive.
Have a look at the Renfe website for train times.
trains fares vary, we paid 8.20 euros back in July and the train took about 1 hour 15 minutes
although we came from Barcelona to Salou (10.July.2013)
I would also advise you to use Barcelona Estació de França station, its far easier for everything e.g. boarding the train, its less crowded and easier to get a seatEdited: 18 August 2013, 19:25
