You are safer taking a currency card .

Have a look at the Caxton fx euro card.

It is safe, reliable and costs nothing to withdraw cash as required at ATMs.

I have had one for years ---- wouldn`t travel without it.

Definitely a currency card. I have used the Caxton fx card over the last few years and can highly recommend it. It is widely accepted and no charges for withdrawing at atm or paying in-store.

Sorry.... I am on the cash side. Been in too many Q's at ATM's for my liking. Cash and a credit card for me.

I take both as well. SA good credit card to use abroad for large purchases. A currency card to withdraw money from ATMs. Also cash, but only because I have Euros left over from previous trips to Europe.

I also take some cash but find the card useful for paying hotel or restaurant bills.

Can`t say I have ever really had to queue at ATMs.

Halifax Clarity card every time, I used to use the Caxton cards, Clarity much simpler, got 1.219 a few weeks ago.
