Pirates village santa ponsa

We hope to stay at the pirates village santa ponsa in October. Can't decide between all inclusive or just self catering. Can anyone advise who may have stated in it or maybe staying in it summer 2013 what the food is like and is there much choice for adults and kids.

It depends on your taste, we didn't have high expectations and were very pleasantly surprised, not one bad meal. Seemed to us that the people moaning about the food were the ones constantly ordering toasties and burgers from the bar all inclusive options. There is s huge selection of local and British style food. The kids options are basic but will satisfy the fussiest eaters ie quite plain. Most of the restaurants in town are aimed at the Brits! Nothing particularly Spanish, nice Italian opposite hotel.

We didnt end up staying in it but we stayed in other appartments. We did go up to the pirates village on one of the nights. We paid in to see one of the pirate shows and we had a walk around all of the facilities. The place was just overcome with people very hard to get seats to watch the show. The shows takes place right beside the pools which is extremely dangerous especially as one of them is 2 metres deep with no surrounds around them The pools are fab but with all the people around the pool it would be impossible to watch your kids. It don't personally feel that I would like to stay there as it would be too busy in the peak of the summer. Maybe better slightly off peak and we where there at beginning of October

I completely disagree: we stayed there this summer with three small children and had a marvellous time. We self-catered and when we returned from dinner out each evening, the pool area did tend to be busy with people watching the shows, but the staff would instantly carry us a table and chairs out from inside, often without even having to be asked. Not one person fell in the pool during our week there, and whilst there are no barriers, the adults sitting nearest the pool were always vigilant. Our children certainly understood to take a path back to us that didn't go near the pool edge, at 3 and 6, so I'd be surprised if others couldn't also obey such a simple request.
