Local/Spanish Bars near Parque Santiago 3&4

We're keen to check out bars & restaurants that are authentically local to the island rather than marketed specifically at the Brits.

Are there any bars close to our apartments that don't have english cabaret/karaoke? (It's just the two of us, so we don't need child-friendly places.)

Any suggestions are welcome. Cheers.

Hi George - don't be furious we're here to help!

If you have a look at this map

tenerifetravel.com/maps/southtenerife_large.…

you will see PS3 & 4 in square C8. A short stroll away in square E9 you will see an area adjacent to the sea marked San Telmo, where there are a strip of really nice bar/restaurants operated by locals - from the seafront walkway, you must go up to the upper level though - you'll see the steps just opposite the fountain. During the daytime they are great also as you have a great view of the beach and many of them do great tapas.

If you have a look on pages 49-61 of this

mi-gusto.com/index-ingles_archivos/Page19215…

you will get a flavour.

Also in square E8, there are one or two more traditional bar/restaurants in the area called El Camison.

However, almost on your doorstep is the Magic Bar, whilst it is for the tourists, it is frequented by the locals particularly at the weekend and worth a visit although the drinks are expensive. I'm sure they have a website but can't seem to find it the moment.

Depending on your age, you may also like the BUDA bar, which is behind the Tenerife Princess, opposite the Bitacora.

Hope this helps a bit although whodatnola is right you are in the middle of the tourist area but in my opinion it is the nicest area of the tourist areas.

Nelly

Thanks Nelly. The pages on Mi Gusto look really good - & no sign of any of the restaurants listed having Only Fools & Horses playing on the telly!

We enjoy a good drink in bars that are a bit buzziing, so we'll be sure to check out Buda Bar as well.
