Anything really, especially in the evening and at night when my husband feels deprived of Radio 4 during our impending 8 week stay.

I would like to get him a good quality world travel radio to take with us this time but would first like to be sure that there's going to be something for him to listen to..

Have you heard of podcasts?

These are recorded programmes many from the BBC

Look here http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts

includes you and yours, parts of the today programme etc, etc

You need a computer

Download itunes

it is then easy to automatically download the podcasts.

You can then play them on your computer or an ipod.

I will be taking my laptop to Tenerife in March and each day (using wifi in the Hotel) downloading my podcast updates.

Any of the above you need more help on, just ask away

In fact there is another solution.

If in Tenerife you have

a lap top or net book.

and an internet connection

BBC Iplayer RADIO (repeat Radio not TV) works in Luxembourg so should work in Tenerife.

see here bbc.co.uk/iplayer/…

Sadly, there's no wifi in our apartment and my husband wouldn't take kindly to the thought of going and sitting in a hotel or bar to listen!

He still likes to do things the old fashioned way I'm afraid but thank you for the suggestions.

The beauty if podcasts on an Ipod is that you visit a wifi spot (Perhaps a Bar)and download the podcasts to your lapbook. You then go home and load them on to your ipod to listen when you want.

Hi, BBC world service is available, but you need a good radio able to access world wide stations. You will not receive BBC World Service on a UK bought DAB radio. The best reception is on FM from the Hotbird satellite which is directed toward Europe, so reception outside Europe will be weak unless it is via a more specialist radio usually bought and used by amateur radio enthusiasts. The best reception is via DRM signel which is similar to our DAB.

Thank you for all the advice and suggestions but it looks as though my other half will just have to do without it again!
