Beaches and Restaurants

Hi

Last stayed in PDLA at Colon 2 Oct 2012 and were really unlucky with the weather, so didn't get to go to the beach, had one nice day at Siam Park and one day around pool so we didn't get to beach at all!

Booked again for Colon 2 this October 1/2 term, from what I remember the beach close by to Colon 2 (straight across road) was black sand and didn't look great, however probably didn't look its best in the rain. I have a map and Vista beach looks to be the main beach is it within walking distance?

Also any recommendations for breakfast nearby and a traditional Spanish restaurant for Tapas?

Hoping for better weather this year :)

Thank you

Come out Colon 2 turn left towards Parque Santiago 3 and 4 turn left at Safari cente when you get to La vista shopping centre cut through or down lane to beach. A 15 minute stroll. El Cedros next to patch gets a lot of reccomendations for breakfast. I wouldn't reccommend them at night, great garlic prawns but chough steak and chicken. Las vistas is the best beach, man made with golden sand.

Thank you, that sounds ok, don't mind a 20-30 min walk. Think I remember the Safari centre with the fountains outside?

Do you know the charges for Sunbeds and Parasol on the beach please ?

Tasca casa pacos in Los cristianos is a must try for tapas? Just seen u don't mind a nice walk to get where u want to go? We stayed at the parque la Paz in las Americas and walked through to pacos a few times first for lunch then dinner and both times it was great!

Don't have much info on tapas, but. If at the beach First Love Italian is situated in the lane between Compestela beach and La Vista shopping centre. They do a cheap lunch deal but we tried their Italian Tapas and found it delicious. Might even tempt you to book a table for evening meal. Don't be fooled by the look a small pokey bistro the food and service are superb.......cheap drink as well.

Tapas try Rosies Bar if you come out of Colon 2 and turn Right at the next corner where the bank is sited turn Right go up the hill till you see the Columbus Hotel in front of you turn Right you then go past the side of El Dorado Apts ,the gate entry into California Apts ,Lazy days bar and a little further is Rosies Bar ( all these are on your right ) A Red Frontage ,small place with about four tables outside but food is very good .There is a cut through to Rosies but it does have a steep hill on it and TBH should not be used late at night as its dimly lit .....come out of Colon2 turn Left and left up the walk through that runs between Colon2 and Parque Cristobal Apts .at the top of this you will be facing Hiperdinos supermarket and on your right California Apts ,here just turn right and go past Lazy Days bar

Quite a number of Tapas places in the San Telmo area all good .This area tiers up from the sea front walk way off Playa Las Vistas which seems your heading there .Fantastic views from these bars and restaurants over the beach area and coast line .Heres a link .......

The House Restaurant which is over from the Bank as mentioned earlier serves good food .Though this time found Some of their Pasta dishes where more Chinese style (!) but Steaks and Pizzas still very good .

If you fancy a night at Hard Rock Cafe and it is real not a copy cat place that has excellent service and a good menu .Non Alcohol Cocktails are excellent dont get me wrong they do serve alcoholic ones just i dont drink .And great bands upstairs on the terrace ,but do check which nights and also book to avoid disappointment .We went here under duress not a burger fan but truely enjoyed the experience .Served by a guy called "Edwardo " (spelling) who nothing was to much trouble .

Vivos have a two star Michelin chef there now ,and day times the have acts on ( Mon to Sat 2pm to 6 pm and Sun 12 to 6 pm ) with the like of Pip Brown ,Elaina Campbell ,Heather, Ayshanti ,Indiana ( if baby hasnt arrived ) and Marc Craig amongst many others .There where 5 acts on the Sundays we went .They do carvery each day 12 till 4 pm but not being a dinner eater i waited till after four for their" Funky Food Menus " and have to say its excellent ,This Chef Davied is an outstanding chef .Its a five minute walk just come out of Colon 2 turn right and carry straight on its on the Right just after Leonardos .

Thank you so much for all the replies, this is a brilliant forum!!!

Had a quick look at the link for the San Telmo area and looks like a nice area with plenty of good eateries, so a good walk will help burn a few calories :-)

Thank you very much Onelegnofeet.

The Italian sounds good too bigbobski

Didn't realise there was a Hard Rock Café so will definitely give that a try, sounds like a good night out, as does Vivos.

Lots to look forward to- Thanks again
