Traveling Solo in South Padre

I am thinking of traveling to SPI alone in mid June. I have only traveled alone once last summer to California. All I really want to do is sit on the beach, get a tan, eat and sleep. I need some R&R, some me time. I know this place is crazy during spring break but I keep reading it quiets down afterwards. Since I live in DFW, TX this is the closest beach to my home that I would like to visit.

Has anyone ever traveled solo to SPI?

Is it relatively safe?

BTW I am 29 and a female.

It is VERY safe. Mid-June will start to see the summer crowds come in, and it will get busy on the weekends, but not bad during the week. I think you'll find what you are looking for in terms of chill R&R. The overall pace is slow, and it's very walkable.

I would suggest finding a small condo on the north side (which is a bit slower than the southern side of the island), or since you are just one, maybe look at the Palms. It's a small hotel on the beach with a nice little outdoor restaurant and will be a lot more quiet than some of the bigger hotels.

Thank you TXtraveler67. Will most definitely check out the the Palms. That looks just about right for me.
