Monument Valley Help

We will be traveling from Page to Mesa Verde in a 32 foot RV. We would like to stop in Monument Valley for a few hours. The roads do not sound RV friendly. What's the best way for us to see the main sights in a couple of hours? Is this even possible? Any other suggestions?

Park at the visitor center and take one of the tours offered by the Navajo companies. Do a search and you will come up with names of companies if you want to book in advance. Or you can just walk up and see what you can arrange. Read the reviews of the various companies here on TA and you can get a pretty good idea of what you will experience.

As noted, the roads to MV are just fine. But you definitely don't want to take your RV into the monument. Many tours are available.

Have fun.

Good advice already. Choose a back country tour for the best value and most exposure in 2-3 hours. The natives will take you beyond the loop road and you'll see places and things that are otherwise unattainable.

I would advise you to tour earlier in the day and be settled in one place for sunset. The patio at the View Hotel is my preferred location.

It seems impossible to get a room there! I'm still trying.

The View is sold out almost every night, sometimes months in advance. But do keep trying. As a back up try Gouldings Lodge. After that you'll be over 20 miles away at Kayenta or Mexican Hat.
