Park City Trip March 27-31...conditions

We are headed back to Park City the week before Easter. We were there in February during the inversion and kinda missed out of really good conditions.

What are the conditions normally like during this time frame? What kind of crowds should be expected?

I looked at the Almanac and saw average temps in the 40s. :-(

Note...We will most likely ski Snowbasin or the Cottonwoods and just use Park City to reside.

Late March is traditionally very good. There's no connection between the inversions that Salt Lake CIty tends to get and ski conditions so not sure what you meant by that. If you're planning to ski Snowbasin or Cottonwood canyons, is there a particular reason why you're staying in Park CIty? While we would love to have you, it would be a lot cheaper and convenient to stay in Salt Lake City.

Have fun.

We were told it was due the the inversion for having unusually high temps in the mountains. This caused all the powder from the previous week to crust over....freeze/thaw....etc.

Anyway, we loved staying in PC. We are returning to the same condo as our previous trip. It also makes BCC, LCC and Ogden similar distances.

Although possible, inversions in March aren't very likely. However late March is when it really starts to warm up. You could have the exact same conditions simply because its March. On the other hand I've had some really deep days in March. Most likely you'll be skiing on spring like conditions unless snow is in the forecast. The Cottonwoods are higher in elevation and chances are any snow that falls will most likely be nice and fluffy. If its sunny just follow the sun around the mountain. The Strawberry side of Snowbasin has some great morning spring skiing. Have fun!

There were a couple dubious statements made above. There is certainly a connection between the ski conditions you encountered and the inversion, but the cause and effect were identified backwards. It was the clear, mild weather in the mountains that causes the inversion in the valleys, not vice versa. Such a situation typically occurs during the coldest months, when daylight hours are shortest and sunlight the weakest, usually when there is snow on the ground in the valley.

The previous poster has it correct. You may well have the same dry, mild weather in late March (meaning unexceptional ski conditions), but you also might well have powder.
