December trip with kids aged 1, 2 and 3

We're looking to visit Park Lake City around the holidays this year with grandparents and our 1, 2 and 3 year old. Mom and kids want to play in snow and walk around. Other adults want to ski. Any recommendations on where to stay location-wise? (Don't want to have to load three kids up in car seats constantly.)

Main street? Or one of the hotels in the mountains?

Any advice greatly appreciated (especially if you think I'd be crazy to take three little ones there during the holidays). :)

You can stay just about anywhere and take the free bus to either the Canyons or Deer Valley. PCMR is up in the air right now, it may or may not be open this year. Should know around the end of August.

Canyons has what they call the "ski beach", nice area to play in the snow, see the skiers, etc. Moreover Canyons also often puts on special apres ski activities for the kids (e.g., clowns, face painting, ballon making, magician, etc.). And nice thing is the gondola for which the young ones will be free and you can buy a single ride / non-skier ticket on, that takes you 2/3 of the way up the mountain to the Red Pine lodge where you can meet up with the family for lunch or free made waffles at the waffle hut, plan in the snow, take in the mountain atmosphere, enjoy the patio on a sunny day, etc. FYI -- two properties directly adjoining the ski beach are Sundial Lodge and Grand Summit, book through the Canyons or go to VRBO to save by booking owner direct.

FYI -- slight typo can't seem to edit, waffles are not free (are worth the $, the kids love them, big kids too)

I agree with skiman273 about the Canyons. Further, I recommend the Grand Summit Hotel. The pool and hot tubs are the best. Also there are restaurants in the GSH ( none in the Sundial but it is a 2 minute walk). During the holidays these restaurants offer family friendly holiday dinners (buffet in the ballrooms, the kids love them). And there is a child care facility in the hotel. It is super but very small and you'd need to book months in advance for holiday spots. Be sure to bundle up and take the free bus or free hotel shuttle to Main St to stroll the galleries. Kid's faves would be Main St Pizza & Noodle and Java Cow. Your skiers will not be disappointed with the Canyons and DV and PCMR are a short free bus ride away!
