Zion in January

Visiting GCNP first week in Jan. Wanted to know what winter driving conditions are like in that timeframe to try and make it up into Zion.

Driving from the south rim of the Grand Canyon to Zion, you won't be crossing any mountain passes. Generally the weather will be OK, but do keep a close eye on the forecast. It can snow pretty much anywhere in the region in January, though accumulating snow at lower elevations is fairly rare. Actually, the south rim of the Grand Canyon is at about 7000', so that's the place you'd be most likely to encounter snowfall. That's assuming you'd take US 89 from Page to Kanab and not Alt US 89.
