Grosvenor Arch, Utah

We never got to see Grosvenor Arch! Please be advised that once you leave the black top road from Tropic you will get on to a dirt track. OK for a short while, this track RAPIDLY DETERIORATES, with damage from flash floods and rain water causing sudden steep gullies that any 2-wheel drive vehicle may have trouble with.

Although the track is graded by earthmovers, I would strongly advise AGAINST attempting this rough road. Even a good 4-wheel drive vehicle will prove to be a very uncomfortable ride.

We turned back after 4 miles, please don't try it by car at all.

Sorry you missed the arch... The road conditions do change. Always ask at the Cannonville visitors center for up to date info. (btw we took our trusty station wagon down this road to grosvenor arch one time, just depends on the road conditions which sometimes are impassable even with 4wheel drive).

The condition of that road can change very rapidly. It can be a nice, easy graded road that any sedan can drive on without a problem, or a muddy mess that can be impassable. It just depends on when you go.

Too bad you missed the arch, but thankfully you had the common sense to turn around when you realised it was more than you bargained for.
