Looking for farm country: Burlington or Woodstock?

We went to Brattleboro last summer, visiting all the small towns and farmlands in the area. We loved it so much we want to return to VT 4th of July weekend. We are booked for 2 nights in Manchester at the Equinox but would like to then drive around farmlands like the ones in the South we loved. We spent the whole time just stopping at farms, roadside stalls, antique shops, etc... Can you recommend where to stay the next 2 nights - Burlington or Woodstock area? Would love to see both, but want to decrease driving (we need to get back to NYC on Mon). Any scenic route suggestions appreciated!

Hi Meili72,

Woodstock is the better bet as it's nearer, easier to get into the countryside. Take route 100north from Manchester and stop in Weston at the Vermont Country Store, Plymouth at the Calvin Coolidge homestead and then into Woodstock on route 4. Check out the village website www.woodstockvt.com.
