The Fairbanks Inn - St. Johnsbury Hotel, Vermont

Has anyone ever stayed here or been to this area? The family, Wife 3 kids under 10 and a dog hit the black hills SD area last summer and loved it. Looking for something to beat that great trip. We have never been to the New England area. Driving From Pittsburgh Pa. There looks like a decent amount of things to do.

We like to hit the parks and forest but also have to tourist trap things to do for the kids. Of all the things we did in South Dakota the kids still talk about the Buffalo on the road. So Moose sightings would be good.

Here's the Site a guy at work to me about. with location and things to do.

Yes I've stayed there. Nice place. Big rooms. Clean.

St. Johnsbury is pretty sleepy though. Not a tourist trap at all.

You may be happier in a place like Stowe where there is a lot more to do.

Summer, how long depends on what there is to do.

Is this place close to things to do, I prefer not to stay in all the action just close by.

There is not tons for kids in the St Johnsbury area. You may want to stay close to Burlington (not in Burlington). Possibly Vergennes near Lake Champlain. There are plenty of state parks on the lake to visit, near Burlington there are lake cruises, Ben and Jerry's ice cream, Vermont Teddy bear factory, plenty of hiking/sightseeing in the Green mountain national forest. Another option would be to travel further into the White Mountains of New Hampshire, visit Mt Washington, Six Gun City, Clark's Trading Post, the Kangamangus highway.
