My wife and I are planning a trip and we could really use your help. We are in our mid 20’s, very active, adventurous, and looking to make the most of a weekend get away to the Vermont, New Hampshire, Upstate New York area. I could really use your help in planning our itinerary as this is our last chance to explore this area of the country as we are relocating to the Midwest soon after.
We are leaving from Windsor, CT on Friday (May 5th) and returning after the trip to Wilmington, DE we only have about 4 days but we don’t mind driving a lot in order to see the best this area has to offer.
Here are a few ideas that I had in mind so far:
Is it worth stopping or going through? I really can’t find anything specific that we would like to see or do but any suggestions on hikes, attractions, activities, etc… would be appreciated.
Check Out Ben & Jerry’s & Cabot Cheese
Hike Mount Mansfield (Is this possible the first week of May? What trails will be open & what side to we hike in from?)
Explore Lake George or Lake Champlain
Any hiking or biking suggestions to great vistas (we were thinking about bringing our bikes)
Renting a Kayak or Power Boat and exploring the lake (will there be places open this time of year for this?)
Is it better to stay on the east side or take a ferry across the lake and explore the west side
Cascade Mountain (is this hike open this time of year, how is it compared to Mansfield)
The Brothers, NY (Big Slide Mountain) this just looks like an awesome hike with ladders to climb and good views, but I am not sure how it rates versus others
Lake Placid (anything cool here? Is it worth the side track?)
We are foodies, we are just as excited about a hole in the wall mom and pop place as a 5 star resort with a great view… so any suggestions would be great.
Thanks in advance for your help!
