One Dinner in Charlottesville

Hi Everyone. I'm going to be in Charlottesville with my SO between Christmas and New Years and I am having a hard time choosing one restaurant for dinner. After reading through a few websites, I'm thinking of Tavola, Zocalo, or Brookville but I'm open to other suggestions too. The only other time I was in Charlottesville I ate at Savour, which was very good. Please let me know what you recommend. We both really enjoy food and dining out and want somewhere with really good food. Thank you!

How about a stay at the Clifton Inn and include dinner there.

We are staying at Cedar Spring Inn, which I love. I thought about the Clifton Inn for dinner but a co-worker of mine mentioned how Charlottesville has so many good restaurants that you don't need to do fine dining there to get amazing food. What do you think?

Two of my favorites are actually just outside of town but both are very good and have diverse daily menus and non-formal yet nice atmosphere.

The C & O on the Downtown Mall with its roaring fire is a favorite of ours in the winter.

C&O remains one of my favorite restaurants anywhere in America. I try to eat there whenever I visit Charlottesville. Duners is also a favorite, but I've been frustrated at times by their policy of not taking reservations.

The Ivy and The Local are both outstanding. Zocalo is also. Dinner at Keswick Hall would be nice also.

Thank you everyone for your response. I see that a lot of you have recommended the C & O but I have been reading reviews that says it isn't as good as it used to be. Has anyone been recently?

We last visited C&O in August. It seemed just as good as on my first visit over 10 years ago, and on the many others in between. The menu hasn't changed much over the years, but I view that as a positive.

I think the Ivy Inn is probably the best restaurant in town, but it's a little expensive. but if you don't mind spending a little more, it is worth it.

i was last at the C&O about two years ago. it was very good, probably one of the ten best in town in my opinion.

if you're going to be here on a tuesday night, I'd recommend Maya. they have a great $12 dinner special on tuesdays.

if you're looking for a cheaper but still very good place, i'd suggest Continental Divide. Easily the best restaurant for the money in town.

Fleurie on the downtown mall was excellent,; celebrated our tenth anniversary there in September 2010. High end, pricey, very elegant.
