Might there be mosquitoes in May?

Hoping to visit Chincoteague in May but OH reacts very badly to mosquito bites so want to try to reduce the risk - I know it depends on how wet / dry the year is, but wondering if May is typically a good or bad month for mosquitoes.

Of course, it's hard to say for certain, but the spring months aren't usually too bad at all. If it has been raining just before you come, avoid areas with standing water and, of course, be careful if you go hiking in the woods. Hope you have a good visit!

get a thermaCell mosquito repellent unit and the pouch used to attach it to your belt, they work very well. not a spray or lotion. works much better. we will down in late may early june and wanted to be ready just in case.
