You should buy them in magaluf as they are more expensive at the airport but watch the weight of your case if you are taking alcohol home as they are very strict at the airport regarding excess baggage

I agree with the previous post we have just returned from Palma Nova and they are cheaper in resort, i think you could bring back 800 cigs each and 1kg of tobacco, but dont quote me on that!.

Theoretically no limit to how many ciggies or litres of spirits you can bring back to UK having bought them duty-paid in Majorca.Have to be for your own consumption, though. As previously stated it's the luggage weight limit that gets in the way of bringing in more than,say,2 litres. No such thing anymore as duty-free between Majorca and UK.

The allowance hasn't changed, just the threshold at which they start asking questions - down to 800 from 3200 :)

When buying cigarettes make sure you keep your receipts and have them to hand at the airport in case you are asked for them. This advice was given to us last year by the staff at the Tabac shop.

They look for people with lots of different brands on them.

We only buy for ourselves so only have one brand and normally bring around 1200 each back and have never had a problem.

If you are stopped they will want to be convinced that they are for personal use.

As others have said if you only bring back 800 cigs you should be fine and these can also be as gifts for friends and not just for yourself as long as no money changes hands.

Also if you buy them from the tobacos shop, you can pay in sterling, for which you get a better rate of exchange.
