First time in Corralejo

Im considering booking for the 20th May 2009. Can anyone recommend a 3/4 star apartment which is in walking distance to a beach and the centre (bars/restaurant area)

I am trying to decide between correlejo and Costa teguise (Lanzarote) - any thoughts on which would be better?

I am 26 and my partner is 28 - we like nice restaurants, fairly lively bars, pretty beaches and nice walks / a bit of culture.

Do people know what the weather will be like this time of year too?

Many thanks in advance!

We stayed at Fuentepark (let you read the reviews yourself)

Meets your walking distance for bars etc. the long beach (Flag) is a 5 euro taxi ride away.

Not sure what culture there is to see (Leisurezone will know), nice bell tower in the new shopping centre, be there for noon.

blue bay palace,4star hotel in corralejo, very nice hotel, takes really 1min to walk to beach, and 5mins to the main strip to where all bars and resturants are,

also this hotel operates its own bus thats free and takes you to a very nice beach (flag beach)

weather in may should be mid 20's so fairly warm, if you wanna know more about the blue bay palace read my review or just ask me

would recommend one of the oasis hotels pref the duna or the papagyo bith pretty central and across from the waterpark and weekly market would def reccommend corralejo plenty to do and lovely beaches to relax would def make time to visit the sand dunes we never the first time we went and regretted it but visited them on our next visit, wether in may is normally quite hot warm enough for swimming and shorts and t shirts theres a constant breeze on the island wich will keep you cool. hope this helps

My wife and I stayed in Costa Teguise 2 years ago and it was very nice but very quiet. This spring we stayed in Playa Blanca and it was much better with good bars and restaurants to suit all tastes and good walks. In 2 weeks time we are going to Correlejo for our 40th wedding anniversary, and this will be our first visit to Fuerteventura. We are staying in the Bluebay Palace after reading good reviews on this website so I can make comparisons after that.

Hi, For me, I would choose Corralejo every time over Costa Tesguise in Lanzarote. I used to live in Lanzarote (Playa Blanca) and Costa Teguise always seemed to be like a bit of a ghost town and quite tashy in all honesty, but I know some people love it.

Lanzarote itself has lots of culture etc, mainly centered round Cesar Manrique who's philosophy and sculptures can still be seen on the island. If you want to stay in Lanza I would recommend Playa Blanca as it is clean and tidy with a marina, plenty of bars, restaurants and shops etc. Lanzarote is more commercialised with lots of traffic and traders vying for your euro!

Fuerteventura is known as the "peaceful island". It is much larger with more "space" so you can lose yourself in the peace and tranquility of the Parque Nacional just minutes outside Corralejo. It has lots of international restaurants, bars, restaurants and shops so you will have plenty to do.

The weather should be good at this time of year, not the blistering heat of August, but really comfortable. Fuerteventura is always about 2 degrees warmer than Lanzarote.

If you decide on Fuerteventura, dont forget, if you still want to visit Lanza, you could take a day-trip to Playa Blanca.

Check out my website and download the FREE magazine pdf for details on things to do and see in both islands. www.leisurezone.es

Accommodation - I would recommend the Blue Bay Palace as it is central to the "hub" of activity in Corralejo.

The Riu Oliva Beach near Flag Beach is a bit too far out of town for you. You will love the situation as it has wonderful views of Lobos and is on a good beach, but I think it would be frustrating for you as regards getting out and about to see and do things
