Fireworks festival in Blanes - get to/from Barcelona

Want to visit Blanes fireworks festival on the last day - Jul. 27, 2011. From what I understood from official website, it starts at 23:00. How to get there by public transportation and even more important how to get back to Barcelona?

We are family of 4 - 2 + 2 (kids are 13 years old).

Experts - your input is appreciated!

you may well be better off staying over in blanes for the night. the roads are completely blocked, you cannot move in cars for a couple of hours after it finishes.

we were in malgrat a couple of years back and got the train to blanes. easy enough! the plan was that we would get a taxi back (it's about 15 mins journey normally) the roads were gridlocked completely so we decided to sit in a bar and wait for it to ease. So we waited.....and we waited.....and we waited!! we finally got back after 2 in the morning!

another idea is to go to one of the nearby resorts and get a boat. yousail round the coast to blanes and watch the fireworks from the boat and then sail back again. i wish we had done that! We didn't know about it until it was too late.

not sure how you would get back to barcelona, i think the trains stop around 1030pm

I would say no way of returning to Barcelona after the fireworks, unless you have a car or go by taxi, which could be quite expensive (100-120 Euros), an even then, as said by Independenttravellers, you will have a long time to exit Blanes

Thanks for the answers - will give it some more consideration as to how to plan the visit wisely and not to get stuck in the traffic.

if you can get there it really is spectacular. my guess is that for staying over accommodation would be expensive due to the festival.

you could hire a car, drive to one of the nearby resorts and pick up the boat trip from there, sail back again and drive back to barcelona. or you could get the train to one of the resorts, get the boat there and back and stay in that resort. lots of the resorts are easily accessible by train from barcelona

Hi All

Just wondering how easy it will be to find a boat trip to watch the Fireworks from, we will be staying in Santa Susanna/Malgrat from tomorrow until Tuesday and would love to see the fireworks but dont want to get stuck without a way back to our hotel

There are some boat companies explicitly offering this service - for example, http://www.dofijetboats.com/ or http://www.viajesmaritimos.com/.

Unfortunately, our plans have changed and we will be in Costa Brava area in the beginning of Aug.
