Kids at the NH Krystal

We are travelling to the NH Krystal in late February with kids 5-12. We are wondering about the children's programming. All the kids love the beach and pool but what about the kids club?

That previous post was not very nice and did not answer your question... and that's too bad...

There is a Kids' Club. It is located near building 11 in the Laguna section. They have little tykes plastic toys for the kids to play in and a variety of other toys. There is also a wading pool for children. I would say it is designed for kids 3 to 6 years old. The hotel employees who are assigned to work with kids are all bilingual. I am not sure of the hours of operation. But with the animation team, the children are always invited to join in and they have a good time. Every evening the children have their own show at the outside theater in the middle of the resort behind the market place where they dance and have a great time. That show is geared more to children 5 to 8 or 9 years old. I am not sure about the hours of operation of the Kids' Club.

There may be another kids' club on the Emperador side, there is usually in low season since the laguna side is closed. Just ask when you get there.

I agree that the reviews posted on this site for nH are pretty negative and unfortunately a lot of them are justified. Still, now that you know what to expect...

We went two years ago with our 4 girls ages 17,15,13,11 ans they loved it. They didnt join the kids club but we met the people on charge of it and they were amazing to the kids. They have the kids put on a show on stage at night and they take them to the beach etc. The resort itself is average. It is very clean(I saw no bugs) the food was average and we never once got sick. The beach was very beautiful but watch out for the jellyfish. I have now been back to Cuba 3 more times(different hotels) and love it. You cant beat the people. Have fun.

That first post was brutal....we were there the first week of January and had a great time. We have been three times and the girl janelle in the kids club is great. She is more than bilingual, I would guess three or four languages. She has a daughter of her own so she 'gets' kids and is good with them. They have lots of things for the kids to do and our son who didn't enjoy it so much whem he was three loved it at age 5. We also had a nine year old travel with us this time and she enjoyed it as well. I believe the hours are 9-5 ish although you are required to take your children to lunch.

Overall we found the kids club great (if you were on the emperador side it would be a bit of a walk).

Not trying to be mean, but I have been going to Cuba twice a year for the past 40 years, have just turned 80, but I am feel like 60. This was my first time in Cayo Coco with my whole family a group 16, had never experienced what had happened at this resort. I felt more hurt seeing my grand-children being sick than anything else.

I just went here with my kids last week. They are 9 and 12. They were too old for the kids club but there is a good games room that can they hang out at as well as a giant chess game and tennis & a hockey court. Mine loved hanging out at the pool where there were games and excercise each day. We felt very safe there and so they wandered the resort freely during the day together.

The staff are very nice to kids.

My kids liked the buffet restaurants but did NOT like the A La Carte restaurants-not enough kid friendly food choices. They also liked the snack bar but the service is slow.

We did not get sick, a touch of the runs but only because the food is different than here.
