It's not the airlines, that restrict what goes on a plane ! But I wouldn't think long sharp objects , like knitting needles would be allowed... since I have seen them take away , ???? nail clippers ?????.... Would have put them in your check in ..

A knitting needle is a weapon in the wrong hands so they would not be allowed in your carry on. In your checked baggage would not be a problem.

I have looked this up before to fly into the states on four different planes and they are allowed. I had metal ones and my friend had wooden ones she was gonna teach me to knit on the long flight. so I had them in my carry on and so did she.

If ever you have questions about what you can or can’t bring in your carry-on or checked baggage, check the “Can I bring it on the plane?” section on this CATSA website:

www.catsa.gc.ca/home.aspx…

It is permitted to bring knitting needles and crochet hooks in your carry-on.

wow, you got to be kidding ! take away , nail clippers.. because they have a 2" file on them ... but allow a 12" or longer steel knitting needle, with a sharp point on the plane ...

Beginning April 25 in the USA the “Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) will allow small knives and some previously prohibited sports equipment onto airplanes as carry-on items.”

Note that is in the USA though - not Canada.

Yeah, I just seen that ! Not sure why you would need a small knive or sporting equipment on the plane.... Unless you are on one of those planes lately that have seen long delays ! LOL But Cuba is still taking all the lights away ( for resale, I would think ! ) .... lol

Well it's safe? to say that all the nuts out there now know how they can either threaten to commandeer a plane, or knit a nice cardigan to match their socks. Perhaps both!
