Scammed......in Moron ...anyone?

Ta's had advised me about the bracelet scam and forgot about it ,till it was all over.

This happened when our driver had left to get the vehicle.

Just a reminder to stay sharper than we were.Didn't lose much but it does happen.

Bergerman we / four of us were sitting having a beer in a / grocery store/ shopping store. He was quite tall, well dressed.allsmiles shook our hands told us he was a cook at our resort.Of course we were happy and even congratulated him after the story of his wife giving birth that morning.hinted about the cold beer, again this was all after our hired p driver left to get his car.

Next thing he leaves our dh and approaches upstairs where we are shopping with big hugs to say good bye,we ask when he will return to work?

Oh not for six and a half days,,convenient ...thinking it was so great he made an effort to say good bye to us,he then proceeds with his real reason...can I have money form my baby milk, diapers food for my wife and clothes ,he covered it all.

I did feel quite sad after realizing what he had done.

My friend ,did end up giving him some money, but the look on his face when he got it was a sheer giveaway.

Another reason not to wear your hotel bracelet outside.

This happens all over.

It is rife in Tunnisia.

Its been going on for years. My wife had a similar incident in Havana many years ago. We were on tour and this young lady carrying a infant child approached my wife. Baby was dirty, and dirty clothes. She went straight for my wife and asked for money to buy milk for her baby, who by the way had not been fed for 2 days. I said the standard No Gracias. She persisted, my wifes nearly in tears, finally I said the No Gracias again and turned away and ignored her and she left down the Malacone to find another unsuspecting yuma. The tour op caught this and explained to my wife that as long as there is milk available its for the asking. No need to have pesos to buy it. It was our first trip. We to felt bad even after the explanation. We all get it from time to time.

Cheers

Every time we have been this has happened to us, however now we have a genuine Cuban friend of 6 years and now we are with her, yes obviously we are tourists but never get any hassle what so ever.

Often the milk is then sold on the black market. I had a woman approach me outside the Parque Central in Havana. She pointed at her stomach and said "ocho meses" i.e. eight months pregnant and "leche". I think she was about 70...I said no. Just have to keep walking. It's possible to get approached even without a bracelet as often it is obvious who the tourists are.
