Anniversary Trip

My husband and I are thinking about going to Napa Valley for our anniversary in December. Neither of us have ever been West of CO so this will be a whole new experience for both of us. We are not big wine drinkers so we are wondering if Napa is even a good option for us. We have 3 kids so we are looking for something relaxing and romantic. Oh, and it will only be for a long weekend (3 nights). Thanks!

A lodging budget would help us with suggestions for you. Have you considered the CA coast? Carmel is a very romantic place. :).

We'd like to keep it under $300/night.

In Yountville, consider Hotel Yountville or The Villagio Inn & Spa. You will be walking distance to some great restaurants from both of these properties. North Block Hotel is another one to consider. Check their websites for packages and specials. :).

When you say "West of CO", do you mean Colorado? Anyway, the hotels recommended above are probably above your price range especially if you are talking about a "long" (do you mean holiday?) weekend.

December is the rainy season in Northern California. So, if you are not really wine drinkers", there may not be a lot of activities to keep you occupied for three nights in the winter especially with 3 kids. I would suggest looking at Southern California and checking out some of the theme parks down there.

If you are just barely considering Napa - understood. However, contrary to what some 'experts' want to say, this can be a great place for kids! Not only is there the option of a fun, certified hotel nanny who can come and bring you relief for a day or a dinner, but look at these options as well - depending on gender and ages of course
