Kaanapali Beach hotel or Royal Lahaina?

I am travelling to Kaanapali beach in August with my Mom for 4 days, I am conflicted about which property is the better? I have looked at many reviews....just want a lovely hotel for us in a good location. Thoughts anyone? For the hawaii feel, I am leaning towards Kaanapali beach hotel. Thank you in advance.

I'm a big fan of KBH, no glitz or glamor, but a true Hawaiian feel. Great location on the beach and an easy walk to Whaler's Village. Their nightly free hula show is a real winner.

KBH will probably be more what you want.

My husband and I stayed at the Royal Lahaina for our wedding/ honeymoon at Royal Lahaina in 2005. I realize that was a while ago but the hotel had remodeled since. We have since stayed at Maui Kaanapali Villas and Maui Eldorado (which is on the same stretch of beach) since we prefer condos. We love the beach on North Kaanapali since it is less crowded compared to the main stretch of Kaanapali. The Royal Lahaina is further away though from the "action" compared to Kaanapali Beach Hotel and not as many bars and restaurants within walking distance. Castaways At MKV is a short walk though and you can ride the trolley to Whaler Village and other parts of Kaanapali.

Neither KBH or RL. I agree with bethsoutherncolorado - Maui Kaanapali Villas has more of a Hawaiian feel, less like a big hotel. It is on the same great beach as RL - you can walk to the action on the main Kaanapali beach if you wish or take the shuttle.

While I love MKV..........for Mom and for only 4 days, I think a hotel is prob better. The Hawaiian programs at KBH will prob thrill her.

Although I would also prefer MKV over the other two mentioned by the poster, it's a condo, which is inherently different in nature than KBH or the RL - which are both hotels.

Royal Lahina hands down! It's old school hawaii and the views are beautiful and nightly beautiful music. I have stayed there 5 times in my opinion I feel KBH is old and kinda dirty feeling.

In less than 24 hours we will be flying out and staying at the Kaanapali Beach Resort.

We have a full ocean-view suite but I can reply back how we liked the general feel and atmosphere of the grounds and accommodations. So excited I don't think I am going to be able to sleep.. I might as well just get ready now for the plane ride...to paradise!

I will be back in touch.. with my reply from there!

I am sure it is going to be wonderful!
