Ka'anapali need to rent boogie boards & chairs??

Yes, yet another question!! Time is passing fast :) and I'm thinking about the last minute details before we travel this weekend! We are arriving in Kahului around lunchtime this Sunday and will grab our rental car and then drive to Paia Fish Market for lunch. From there it's on to the condo to check in. On the way I want to stop to rent several good boogie boards and a couple beach chairs. I'm hoping to rent chairs that have the backpack straps on them for easier transport to the beach. We have them (from Costco) here at home in Oregon and use them at the lake all summer! Bringing our own snorkel gear so we are set in that area! Looking for a good rental place... Lahaina would work well. We will be anxious to get to the beach so somewhere easy to find and w-good parking would be great. Also, a quick grocery stop after that will be needed for bottled water, snacks etc. Suggestions? Kauai is our usual vacation spot so we are a little clueless this time around!!

Snorkel Bob's, which is all over Maui, rents beach chairs and umbrellas, and the ones we got had the backpack straps. You can pick your own from the stack, just make sure you get the kind you want.

After you pass through main Lahaina you will see Cannery Mall on your left and a Mall on you right. Safeway is in Cannery Mall and to the right is a dive shop, where you can rent boards an chairs, and a Foodland..

There is a Snorkel Bob's on Dickinson St. in Lahaina. I like to rent from him because he gives part of his profits to Maui organizations that teach ocean awareness to Maui's kids and visitors a like!! You can also rent in one location and drop off at another. Even a different island.

if you are staying in a condo, check to see if they have them there as they most often do. Depending on how long you are staying for, it may be cheaper to purchase them at Costco. Good boogie boards were about $30.

What is the average cost for renting boogie boards and chairs? We're going to be there in March and were wondering if renting them would be the way to go.

I think I saw $8/hour or $15 for the day. If you are going to use for more than 2 days than better to buy. There is also a place between Kaanapali and Lahaina that sells them second hand. It's the recycling place that is just off the highway.

Not sure if you are planning any activities as well, but last spring at Snorkel Bob's we got two free boogie boards for the week with the purchase of luau tickets and snorkel gear for 4. There may be other deals to be had.

Sometimes this type of stuff is already in the condo. Prior renters will buy and leave behind. Check to see what's in your condo before you buy or rent anything. Also ask the front desk. Sometimes the staff will gather up the goodies left behind and lock them up in a storage room. You never know until you ask.
